Dr. Leonardo Mariño-Ramírez
Dr. Mariño-Ramírez has an educational background in Microbiology and Biochemistry with more than 15 years of experience in Bioinformatics. He received a BSc in Biochemistry from Universidad de Los Andes (1992) and a PhD in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University (2002).
Dr. Mariño-Ramirez’s research interests focus on the study of the molecular and cellular interactions controlling gene expression in eukaryotes. His research efforts involve the application of computational tools for genomic sequence and functional genomic analyses.
Dr. Mariño-Ramírez serves in the editorial board of PLoS ONE, Gene, Plant Gene, BMC Genomics, Briefings in Bioinformatics and Database and in the External Advisory Board for the Professional MS Bioinformatics Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Mariño-Ramírez is also involved in the development of Bioinformatics and Genomics capacity in Latin America, he is the Co-Founder of the PanAmerican Bioinformatics Institute: http://panambioinfo.org.
