Our Pro Life Mission
Gabriel Marcella
The pro-life movement is very strong in America. But we still confront many challenges, not the least of which is the relative absence of pro-life writings in the electronic and written media. Secularism, materialism, and relativism are maladies of our time that impede clear moral reasoning. Such reasoning is imperative in our confused world, where human life is at times regarded as an inconvenience. The purpose of this website is to provide information that will help change the hearts and minds of Americans on behalf of the sanctity of human life. We begin with our own community, planting seeds in St. Patrick’s parish that will eventually grow out to our society. Since we started this website we have provided news and commentary culled from academia, newspapers, and on-line sites. Prominent have been Catholic sources, yet we have much in common with non-Catholics. The defense of human life is a value shared by much of the world. Indeed, a recent Gallup poll indicated that a majority of Americans oppose abortion.
We trust that loyal readers will find the articles useful as they deepen their understanding of the Church’s teachings, and then effectively defend human life, whether it’s speaking out in the public square for the unborn, helping a needy mother nurture a child, or assisting the elderly. Matthew Kelly writes that the four signs of a dynamic Catholic are a commitment to prayer, study of the faith, generosity, and evangelization.1 We urge you to study our faith, and then champion the noble cause of life. In succeeding weeks and months we will attempt to facilitate your study so that we can take our responsibility to evangelize successfully. As we study the intellectual foundation of pro-life, we conclude that it is the most logical and coherent position to take, based on philosophic, theological, and scientific reasons. We have organized the website accordingly. There are readings on all of these dimensions, as well as a bounty of practical information on the family and helping those in need. Join us in this great enterprise.
